In 1998, he is admitted to one of Angola's most prestigious schools, the Santa Agnes International School in Luanda, to complete his pre-university studies. His admission causes conflict within the Kapala family: on one side, Laura Kapala, Joel's mother, supports him; on the other, his father, Ivo Kapala, owner of a mechanic shop, opposes him. "Jikulumessu" tells the story of revenge, of intertwined feelings such as love and hate, hope and despair, loyalty and betrayal.
