She is best known for co-writing and starring as Dr Pippa Moore in the BBC Four sitcom Getting On (2009–2012, 15 episodes), alongside Jo Brand and Joanna Scanlan, for which she was nominated for two BAFTA TV Awards for Best Writing in a Comedy and a British Comedy Award, and which won two Writers' Guild of Great Britain Awards and a Royal Television Society Award. She also co-wrote and performed in the BBC Radio 4 sketch show The Hudson and Pepperdine Show (2000–2005) with Melanie Hudson, and has had a long-standing comedy collaboration with Julia Davis on Nighty Night (2004), Camping (2016), and Dear Joan and Jericha (2018–2025).
